3 main points of copper pipe welding

There are two main uses of copper pipe in air conditioning: (1) making heat exchanger. Such as commonly used evaporator, condenser, commonly known as “two device”; (2) Making connecting pipes and fittings. So copper tube is also called air conditioning “blood vessel”, “blood vessel” good and bad will directly decide the quality of air conditioning. Therefore, the quality of copper pipe welding is also taken seriously. Today we will share an article about copper tube welding of refrigeration air conditioning heat exchanger.

The preparatory work

1. Read and be familiar with construction drawings;
2, the construction site view – to see whether the construction site has the construction operation conditions;
3. Preparation of pipes and accessories;
4. Preparation of tools and measuring tools — oxygen-acetylene, cutter, hacksaw, hammer, wrench, level, tape measure, file, etc.

2. Installation process
1) Copper pipe straightening: gently knock along the pipe body with a wooden hammer to straighten the pipe section by section. In the process of straightening, pay attention to not too much force, do not cause hammer marks, pits, scratches or rough marks on the surface of the pipe.
2) pipe cutting: copper pipe cutting can be used hacksaw, grinder, copper pipe cutter, but not oxygen – acetylene cutting. Copper pipe groove processing using file or beveling machine, but not oxygen – acetylene flame cutting processing. Wooden pad should be used on both sides of the vise for clamping copper pipe to prevent the pipe from being clipped.

3, end cleaning
There shall be no grease, oxide, stain or dust on the surface of the copper tube inserted into the joint, otherwise it will seriously affect the welding performance of the solder to the base metal and cause defects. Therefore, the surface should be scrubbed with other organic solvents. Copper pipe joint is generally without dirt, if there is usable copper wire brush and steel wire brush processing end, cannot be processed with other unclean appliances.
Use sandpaper to remove grease, oxide, stains, and dust from the surface of the connector where the copper tube is inserted.
